Agriculture & Food scholarship programme

The DLG Young Talents Award is awarded annually by the DLG in form of scholarships for further training measures. The aim is to promote the personal and professional development of young talents in agriculture and the food industry.

The DLG Young Talents Award is awarded in form of a maximum of 10 nominees and a maximum of 3 award winners. The award winners are also nominees.

What are the benefits of the DLG Young Talents Award?

As a nominee

Participation in the DLG network mentoring programme for one year

The programme is a combination of personal mentoring, network meetings (physical/digital) and offers of active participation in various committees, events, publication opportunities

Award winners and nominees are assigned personal network mentors from the DLG network: personal support during the first year

As a prize winner

MAIN PRIZE

6,000 € for further training measures

SPECIAL PRIZE

5,000 € for training measures

JUNIOR PRIZE

4,000 € for training measures

The prizes of the DLG Young Talents Awards are awarded in 3 categories:
 

Main prize

  • For an ambitious individual with great potential for development in the food and agriculture sector
  • Age limit up to and including 36 years

Special prize

  • Is awarded for an annually changing current topic in the agricultural or food industry.
  • Age limit up to and including 36 years

Junior prize

  • for the target group of trainees and students
  • Age limit: 18 up to and including 24 years

Who can apply for the DLG Young Talents Award?
 

You can apply for the Young Talents Award if..

  • you are under the age of 36
  • you have practical experience in agriculture or the food industry– including both upstream and downstream economic sectors
  • who actively volunteer
  • you are open-minded and outgoing beyond national borders and like to think outside the box
  • you have a clear goal in mind

Motivation video requirements:

An important part of your application is the creation of a short motivation video. This video should present your personality, commitment and goals in an authentic and creative way. In the motivation video, please briefly describe your previous involvement in agriculture/the food industry and in voluntary work. It should also highlight your medium and long-term goals for your professional and personal future. Against this background, describe and explain how you would like to use the DLG Young Talents Award to achieve the above-mentioned goals (work placement, technical college, study trip, etc.). The design of the video will be taken into account when evaluating your application. Please note that this is not about the technical perfection of the video. Rather, we are interested in the originality and creative implementation of your content. Use your resources and show us why your application is outstanding.

  • Medium- and long-term goals for your professional and personal future 
  • How you plan to use the DLG Young Talents Award to achieve your goals
