The optimisation of farm management in fish farming in Germany and current animal welfare issues are important topics in our work.
We promote all areas of aquaculture in Germany as a business location and the corresponding connection to the international fishing network on a neutral basis. We network practice, science and research as well as business and institutions (administration and consulting) and stand for the practical exchange of knowledge and future-oriented perspectives.
The DLG Committee for Aquaculture
The farming of fish and other aquatic organisms is a sub-sector of agriculture. The DLG Committee for Aquaculture deals with the controlled rearing of aquatic organisms. Animal welfare aspects and animal welfare in aquaculture are a focus of our activities. We also look at the current status of fish production in closed recirculating systems in Germany.
Activities and areas of responsibility of the committee
- Developing recommendations on current fisheries problems with the goal of improving performance and quality while complying with the necessary environmental aspects and creating solutions
- Further education and training in topics related to fisheries through seminars and events
- Creating platforms: Bundling of the fishery sectors from business, science and practice at events such as EuroTier, the international DLG exhibition for animal farming and management
- Aquaculture exhibitors present their products, technologies, services and work results from all sectors of fish production and environmental technology
- Aquaculture Forum: Lecture and discussion platform accompanying the exhibition at EuroTier
- Aquaculture Consulting Center: Neutral consulting center and meeting point at EuroTier. Neutral institutions answer individual questions from professionals, newcomers and investors from outside the industry
