Robotik in der Lebensmittelproduktion

Robotics & Digitalisation

Our goal is to advance the integration of robotics and digitalisation in food production through expertise and collaboration.

The Committee for Robotics and Digitalisation in Food Production, from 2008 to 2023 the Robotics in Food Production Working Group, is dedicated to the core topic of "Robotics and IT for sustainable and efficient automation in the food industry". The use of innovative automation methods, such as robots, image recognition and simulative optimisation, has already been successfully established in many process steps, e.g. packaging. There are still many challenges to overcome in other areas of food production

that are particularly critical in terms of microbiological safety, such as the processing of sensitive raw materials for fresh food. The DLG sees itself as a link between suppliers of automation systems in robotics and IT, interdisciplinary research and food production from the handicraft to the highly industrialised sector.  With its working groups and committees, the DLG offers a modern platform for identifying interdisciplinary problems, discussing unsolved issues and jointly developing solutions.

The committee meets twice a year, both digitally and in person, at different locations with practical relevance. Its members are experts from business, science and consulting as well as multipliers whose work serves to increase knowledge and knowledge transfer in the food industry. Guest participation is possible on request.

Current topics
  • Supporting the food industry in its holistic digital transformation
  • Identification of current challenges at the human - food - technical system - IT interfaces
  • Initiation of sustainable automation and digital transformation concepts for these challenges with a special focus on industry- and product-oriented robotics
  • Trend and innovation monitoring
  • Preparation and communication of statements and expert opinions on developments in the field of "Automation and digital transformation in food production"
  • Promoting the holistic, interdisciplinary concept of interlinking food product quality and safety as well as robotics/automation/digitalisation throughout the entire food production supply chain
  • Initiation of effective methods and processes for safe, quality-conscious, resource-conserving and economical production of both conventional and innovative foods
