With our work, we want to make a contribution to the economic cattle farming with modern production technology.
Our areas of responsibility are broadly diversified and range from full cost accounting and agricultural policy issues (milk quotas) to topics such as quality assurance in agricultural production. In order to offer Germany's top farms an information and exchange platform, the DLG has launched the "Top Milk Production Farms" project together with regional advisory organisations. The DLG Committee for Milk Production and Cattle Farming plays a key role in this project with regard to the priorities of the top farms.

The Forum of the DLG Top Milk Production Farms has been in existence since 2004 and is a joint project between various advisory organisations and the DLG. The goal of the forum is to establish an exchange of information and experience at a national level between leading milk producers and consultants and to create a broad nationwide database of business management and production technology results.
The DLG programme promotes animal-friendly husbandry of dairy cows. It contains requirements for space availability, contact with the outdoor climate, high-quality feed, employment material and health care and many other important requirements for the management of animal-friendly husbandry. The increased animal welfare is demonstrated with four different awards.
