Michael Riedl elected as new EPP Vice-President

In addition to the regular statutes, a new Vice-President was elected at this year's EPP General Assembly in Kolding, Denmark. Taru Antikainen, Chairwoman of EPP Branch Finland, stepped down after six years in office. The meeting unanimously elected Michael Riedl from Germany as her successor.

Riedl runs a piglet production and pig fattening business in East Germany. The 28-year-old farmer is also active in the management team of the Young DLG and is already a real networker at a young age. Together with his father Günther, who is Chairman of the EPP German Branch himself, he first came into contact with the European Pig Producers in 2013. At the EPP Congress in Veijle, Denmark, not far from this year's venue in Kolding, both quickly realized that this international exchange with like-minded people from the pig sector provides valuable impetus for further business development.

EPP President Gert van Beek expressed his delight at Michael Riedl's willingness to take on responsibility on the EPP Board and to play an active role in shaping the EPP network. He thanked Taru Antikainen for her commitment over the past 6 years, during which she has also represented EPP as a speaker or panelist at events in Poland, Belgium or Denmark. She will remain on the Board as Chair of the EPP Branch Finland.  EPP, 14 May 2025
