Sanjeev Vassudev is a DLG member from India. He is running his own business under the name and style of M/s Innovative Farm Way (IFW) India. In in collaboration with Varkess from the Netherlands he is organizing an extensive Pig Farming Training program for progressive pig farmers across India. The program will provide hands-on experience and advanced knowledge through training sessions in both India and the Netherlands, promoting sustainable practices and boosting productivity. IFW actively participates in national and international animal production trade fairs. In 2022, IFW was selected for the Top Buyer Program in France. The company has a team of 10 employees.
What motivated you to develop a comprehensive pig farming training program?
Demand for pig farming is increasing, as India is importing pork from abroad. Cattle and poultry farming are well established in India, but pig farming still needs development. To run pig farms in Hi-Tech manner, Indian farmers require this international training. Considering all these factors our organization started this training program in India. This training program is proving very useful for the farmers.
Who are your primary customers and what feedback have you received from them?
Feed millers and end user farmers (dairy farmers, pig farmers, poultry farmers) are our primary customers. Feedback received from them is very encouraging. Our products are improving their productivity and management. All our customers are satisfied with our products and services.
How has the demand for animal nutrition products changed in recent years in India?
In recent years demand for animal nutrition products was steadily increasing. Farmers are adopting new techniques to increase their productivity. Many international companies are selling their animal nutrition products in India. With growing awareness about quality products demand is increasing steadily. There is lot of scope for animal nutrition products in future in Indian market as more and more farmers are becoming Hi-tech.
What future trends do you foresee in the animal husbandry market in India?
The business of animal husbandry is well established in India, because the country still is an agriculture based economy. Future is bright for this business in India. Both State and Centre Govts. are promoting this business by providing financial and technical assistance like easy availability of loan, subsidy on equipment and products. An Indian Animal Husbandry Department is promoting the import of cattle semen for improving the breed of the animals. The Government is organizing international and national Animal Production Trade Fairs to motivate more and more farmers to adopt this business.
What advantages do you see for Indian farmers through the co-operation with the Dutch company in the training of pig farmers?

This program enables the Indian pig farmers to monitor the growth and health of their animals in a better way.
Indian pig farmers are well trained in prevention of animal diseases and their diagnose and treatment with medicines through this training program.
Indian pig farmers are trained to obtain more piglets through this training program which will ultimately improve their profitability.
Training is given regarding the diet and nutrition of the animals to the Indian pig farmers through this training program.
In short, this training program in collaboration with the Dutch company is covering all the aspects of pig farm management in detail and is proving to be very useful for the Indian pig farmers.
How was your visit to the EuroTier trade fair in Hanover?
The participation of EuroTier 2024 was a wonderful and a knowledgeable experience for me. I have attended many other trade fairs like SPACE in France, VIV Europe in the Netherlands etc. in the past, but your organization's show was the best.
