EnergyDecentral 2026: EnergyDecentral 2026: Agriculture Driving the Energy Transition

10 to 13 November 2026 in Hanover, Germany – DLG Spotlight "DLG Solar Initiative + On-Farm Energy" – Carbon farming – DLG Expert Stage EnergyDecentral – Ticket shop now open – Travel information and event app available – energy-decentral.com

"Powering New Ideas" is the guiding theme of the EnergyDecentral 2026 exhibition, which takes place from 10 to 13 November 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The leading international trade fair for decentralized energy supply will showcase the latest technologies, solutions, and business models for sustainable energy generation. Held alongside EuroTier, the world's leading trade fair for professional animal farming and livestock management, EnergyDecentral offers a highly relevant technical program and exhibition covering the entire value chain of decentralized energy production. Key topics include biogas, solid fuels, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, power-to-gas technologies, and photovoltaics. These themes will be explored in greater depth through several DLG Spotlights and on the DLG Expert Stage EnergyDecentral.

As an international platform for decentralized energy supply, EnergyDecentral 2026 highlights the technologies and concepts driving the energy transition in rural areas. In addition to presenting the latest developments in renewable energy, energy storage, and sector coupling, the technical program will provide guidance on emerging market opportunities and future-oriented business models for agricultural enterprises.

A special focus will be placed on carbon farming. The spotlight will be on innovative approaches to carbon sequestration, particularly the use of biochar. The event will also address opportunities for certifying and marketing carbon sinks. Visitors will gain insights into current standards, quality requirements, and market mechanisms, as well as the economic opportunities arising from carbon credits and new value creation models in carbon farming.

DLG Spotlight "DLG Solar Initiative + On-Farm Energy"

With the DLG Spotlight “DLG Solar Initiative” and the focus topic "On-Farm Energy", agriculture is taking an even more active role in the energy transition in 2026. This new spotlight demonstrates how farms can become regional energy providers through smart, economically viable, and future-proof concepts.

The spotlight will focus on key technologies such as agrivoltaics, battery storage systems, and innovative wind and biogas solutions. Particularly noteworthy is the growing importance of integrated systems combining biogas plants, photovoltaics, and energy storage. Existing biogas infrastructure offers ideal conditions, including grid connections, flexible load profiles, and opportunities to intelligently store and market surplus energy.

The spotlight will be complemented by two practical case studies showcasing farms that are becoming key pillars of regional energy supply through high levels of energy self-sufficiency, strong local integration, and sustainable business models.

DLG Expert Stage: Current Developments and Practical Insights

Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the DLG Expert Stage EnergyDecentral offers a compact and practice-oriented conference program dedicated to agricultural and decentralized energy systems. Visitors will receive valuable guidance for operational decision-making through application-focused presentations. Key topics include: Biogas and Biomethane; Photovoltaics and Energy Storage Solutions; Heat from Wood; and Combined Heat and Power (CHP).

Carbon Farming as an Emerging Future Topic

The DLG Expert Stage will provide a comprehensive perspective on these fields, covering technological innovations, economic considerations, regulatory frameworks, and policy developments that are expected to shape the sector in the years ahead. The program is designed for farmers, planners, landowners, investors, and all stakeholders in the decentralized energy sector seeking reliable information and strategic guidance.

Innovation Award EnergyDecentral: Recognizing Technological Excellence

Another highlight of the exhibition is the presentation of the “Innovation Award EnergyDecentral”. Incepted in 2014, the award is supported by an independent jury that evaluated entries for innovations in the energy sector.

Recipients of the prestigious award represent the entrepreneurial spirit, technological excellence, and innovative strength of the industry as a whole.
