Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention 2025

International convention with foyer exhibition on 30 September and 1 October 2025 in Hamburg – Focus on new business models with market opportunities

The Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention will be taking place on 30 September and 1 October 2025 at the Congress Center Hamburg. The international convention with foyer exhibition will be focusing on innovative production systems within the agricultural and food value chain. Experts from research, industry and farming will be showing how insect breeding, aquaculture or vertical farming, for instance, can be transformed into viable business models and specifically implemented in practice. The Inhouse Farming Convention is DLG's (German Agricultural Society) pioneering platform that fosters continuous knowledge transfer along the entire value chain – from farmers and food producers up to and including food retailers – and which ensures that innovative solutions for the transformation of the agricultural and food sectors are jointly evolved in practical terms.

With its 'Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food' brand, DLG is focusing on the entire value chain. The convention's kick-off event is aimed particularly at farmers who are open to new business models in the food value chain. This includes, for instance, modular fish systems as an extension to the farm, the cultivation of algae on the farm, growing high-value crops in empty pig barns or the integration of insects into the agricultural cycle as a natural source of protein. However, the food processing industry will also be addressed at the Inhouse Farming Convention, as will start-ups from the agricultural and food sectors, which will be presenting and discussing innovative solutions in Hamburg. "This close networking is essential, because farming, food processing and start-ups are jointly driving the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient production systems forwards. The Inhouse Farming Convention offers this diverse industry an outstanding platform for professional dialogue, pioneering discussions and valuable networking", says Marcus Vagt, Head of DLG's Energy, Inhouse Farming and New Foods Department.

Event profile

The Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention 2025 will be offering clearly structured content that is focused on innovative production approaches and their cost-effective implementation. The first day of the event will focus on alternative production methods and new business models such as insect breeding, aquaculture and vertical farming. Best practice examples, field reports and expert discussions will examine the potentials and challenges involved in these methods and will identify specific market opportunities.

The second day will be dedicated to the technical and economic framework conditions that are needed to successfully implement these innovative production models. The focus will be on topics such as infrastructure, automation, energy efficiency, legal regulations and financing. Experts from research, industry and farming will be providing valuable insights into how economically viable production can be achieved.

Foyer exhibition

To accompany the convention, companies will be presenting market-ready solutions in a foyer exhibition. Here, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the latest technologies hands-on, to talk directly to the exhibitors and to obtain valuable ideas for implementing these technologies on their own farms.

Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food

'Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food' is DLG's (German Agricultural Society) B2B platform for the agricultural and food systems of the future. Closely networked with hands-on farming, it offers professional information, perspectives, innovations and business – from feed to food. The 'Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention' is a new format. From 2025, it will be alternating every two years with the 'Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show', which will be taking place at the same time as EuroTier in Hanover. The international professional conference will intensify knowledge exchange within the value chain in order to jointly drive the transformation of the agricultural and food sectors forwards and help to shape it.
