DLG Feldtage 2026: Solutions for Resilient Organic Arable Farming_

Under the guiding theme “Crop Production out of the Box,” the DLG Feldtage 2026 will present a wide-ranging program focused on organic arable farming. Visitors to the exhibition grounds can look forward to a comprehensive pool of expert knowledge and  products from exhibitors: organisations such as Bioland and the Saxony-Anhalt State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (LLG) will showcase crops and crop mixtures for organic farming on dedicated trials plots.

A further key focus is the use of ridge cultivation systems in organic farming as a concept for resilient and economically viable arable production Naturland, one of Germany’s leading organic farming associations, together with the Marktgesellschaft der Naturlandbauern AG and Biopark, will provide information on organic markets and advise organic farmers, new entrants as well as conventional farmers entering the organic farming segment.. Demonstration farms specializing in organic agriculture will present innovative operational models on-site.

DLG Spotlight “Organic Farming” – Practical Insights for Arable Systems

The DLG Spotlight “Organic Farming” at the 2026 Feldtage delivers hands-on insights into organic crop production. Trial plots will feature regionally adapted crops such as durum wheat, winter pea–triticale mixtures, and field vegetables, demonstrating their role within viable regional value chains.

A complete crop rotation will illustrate the potential of stockless organic farming systems in the dry regions of Central Germany. Exhibitors will further demonstrate mechanical weed control in spring crops using a hoe with 45 cm row spacing, complemented by expert talks and discussions.

Agroforestry is another key theme, with demonstration plots showcasing establishment methods and the benefits of agroforestry systems in arable farming.

Expert Exchange and Knowledge Transfer

Visitors will benefit from in-depth technical advice and direct exchange with professionals. Advisors and experts will provide guidance on variety selection, nutrient management and cropping strategies. Pop-up talks, panel discussions on organic markets and guided excursions to the LLG organic trial fields will deepen practical insights. The organic demonstration farms will showcase innovative business models, with farm managers available for discussion on successful production systems and farm management innovations.

Ridge Cultivation for Resilient (Organic) Arable Farming

Ridge cultivation offers new approaches for both organic and conventional farming. In addition to classical ridge crops, farmers can grow cereals, legumes, maize and other crops using ridge systems.

This approach is characterized by loose soil structure with stable crumb formation, improved root development and enhanced soil water management.

Beyond crop management, the DLG Spotlight “Organic Farming” also provides insight into technical innovations, using Vitatill technology as an example. Key focuses include:

precise shallow cultivation (flat or contour-based), deep strip loosening below plough or cultivator layers, partial seeding and advanced mechanical crop care.

In addition, the integration of application technology for nutrients and supporting inputs will be demonstrated. Machinery on display includes ridge cultivators for ridge formation and hoeing systems for crop care and weed control.

On each of the three even days at 11:30 a.m. (Stand VF 42), expert consultation sessions on ridge cultivation will take place, where specialists from practice and agricultural engineering will discuss specific questions on crop management, machinery and farm economics.

Machinery Demonstrations and FarmRobotix

The machinery demonstrations at the DLG Feldtage will feature seven thematic areas with a total of 66 machinery combinations, making the event Europe’s largest commented live machinery demonstration.

Key topics include:

Soil-friendly and efficient tractor operation, mechanical weed control using harrows in spring durum wheat and hoes in maize; deep non-inversion tillage before drilling; direct seeding and strip-till systems in cover crops or stubble

The FarmRobotix area will showcase field robots in practical use, providing an overview of the current state of development of autonomous agricultural systems. All demonstrations are led by expert commentary and will take place live once per day during the event.
