DLG-ComfortControl

The test method for greater animal comfort

With the DLG-ComfortControl test method, the DLG has succeeded for the first time in determining the slip resistance and deformability of floors and floor coverings directly on the farm.

The mobile test stand can be driven into virtually all types of livestock buildings. DLG-ComfortControl provides farmers with a statement on the spot as to whether their barn floor or the coverings laid there are too slippery and therefore no longer support the optimal performance of their animals. The measurement is carried out independently of the moisture and dirt on the test surface in practical operation. This provides practice-relevant measurement values. It is not necessary to drive the animals out for the measurement.

The slip resistance is examined in a slip-drag test. During the test, a loaded plastic foot is dragged across a floor or floor covering at a constant speed. A load cell measures the tensile force required for this. The recorded tensile forces are compared with the contact weight and the friction coefficient is calculated from this.

Optional: Determining the deformability of elastic floors and floor coverings

The mobile test stand also allows the deformability of elastic floors or floor coverings to be tested. The test method was developed in accordance with DIN 53456. Impression tests are carried out with a continuous increase in force up to 2,000 N/min, with relief taking place in the same direction. The depth of penetration is shown in a graph as a function of the contact pressure.

Advantage for practice applications: Clear statement about the state of wear of elastic floors and floor coverings.
