With more than 12,000 professional visitors from across the ASEAN region and beyond, AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2025 once again demonstrated its pivotal role as an international platform for modern agricultural machinery, sustainable solutions, and cross-border collaboration.
For the first time, the event took place in Vietnam – in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), a hub for innovation, agribusiness, and international exchange. The new venue proved to be an ideal host: Vietnam is one of the most dynamic agricultural economies in Southeast Asia and a committed partner in advancing global agri-innovation.
A key highlight of the event was the official opening by Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, who emphasized the strategic importance of international cooperation for the transformation of Vietnamese agriculture. Helga Margarethe Barth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam, also spoke during the opening ceremony and highlighted the strong and longstanding partnership between Vietnam and Germany, especially in the fields of agricultural innovation, education, and sustainability.
A milestone for future collaboration was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DLG and VAN – the Vietnamese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The agreement lays the foundation for deeper cooperation in knowledge transfer, training, and applied research – and underscores AGRITECHNICA ASIA's role as a catalyst for sustainable development.
Another strong signal came from the participation of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), which hosted a joint exhibition booth featuring German companies and institutions. It provided a valuable opportunity to present technological solutions for climate-resilient, resource-efficient agriculture and to forge new partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region.
The technical program offered a wide range of highly relevant topics – from precision farming and digitalization to sustainable rice production in the face of climate change. Practical relevance and international perspectives were at the heart of the discussions. Particularly well received were the interactive formats, including live demonstrations and expert forums, which encouraged exchange and networking.
Another special highlight was the visit to the Cuu Long Mekong Delta Rice Research Institute in Can Tho and the Southern College for Engineering and Agriculture. These visits provided valuable insights into Vietnam’s agricultural research and training landscape and opened new avenues for cooperation in applied science and capacity building.
The visit was carried out together with Dr. Lars Huf (DLG Markets) and Deputy Managing Director Erik Guttulsröd, who contributed their expertise and networks to deepen the international dialogue in the Mekong Delta.
With its successful premiere in Vietnam, AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2025 has once again proven that it is more than just a trade fair. It is a forum for ideas, technologies, and partnerships – and an important pillar of DLG’s commitment to international agricultural development. We are already looking forward to continuing this success story.
