Planting a Forest – An Investment in the Future
Planting new forests is one of the most important measures for counteracting the consequences of climate change, promoting biodiversity and ensuring valuable ecosystem services. But planting trees is much more than just putting seedlings in the ground – it is a complex process that requires careful planning and professional implementation.
How many trees are there on one hectare?
The number of trees planted per hectare depends on the purpose of the afforestation, the tree species and the planting method. It usually makes sense to plant between 2,000 and 7,000 trees per hectare (10,000 m²). A denser population increases the stability and biodiversity of the forest but also requires higher investments.
Why is it important to plant forests?
Planting new forests is a long-term investment in the future. Forests make an invaluable contribution to climate protection by capturing carbon, producing oxygen and regulating the water supply. They provide a habitat for countless animal and plant species and help to stabilise our ecosystems.
Every newly planted tree helps to create the forests of tomorrow – forests that are resilient to the challenges of climate change and provide a basis for life for us all.
