With the Competence Center Food and its wide-ranging network of experts in all key sectors, DLG is the important driving force for the food industry and its upstream and downstream fields. The networking of experts in the independent, neutral DLG Expert Committees for Food, Food Technology, Meat, Dairy Technology and Food Sensory Analysis, as well as in bodies such as the Working Groups Robotics in the Food Industry and Packing in the Supply Chain ensure the scientific up-to-dateness and high practical relevance of the expert work.
The DLG Competence Center Food offers a broad spectrum of events, conferences, seminars and advanced training events. As co-organizer of Anuga FoodTec - the International Trade Fair for Food and Beverage Technology – the Competence Center is responsible for the professional orientation and excellence of the trade fair. It also organizes DLG Forums on topical issues in the food industry and the annual sector meeting of the German-speaking food sensory analysis sector, the “DLG-Lebensmitteltag Sensorik”. The Competence Center promotes scientific research, for instance through the International FoodTec Award for Food Technology, the “DLG Sensory Analysis Award” and the “DLG Innovation Award – Young Ideas”.
