In recent years, the issue of sustainability has developed into a constant megatrend on the food market. In addition to the food itself, the demand for sustainability is above all aimed at the food packaging that is used. This is presenting food manufacturers with certain challenges.
DLG has conducted the three-part survey ‘Sustainable Packaging 2024: Consumers, labelling, strategies for food & beverages’ in cooperation with Prof. Holger Buxel (Münster University of Applied Sciences) in order to answer the following questions, among others:
What is the importance of environmentally-friendly food packaging from the point of view of consumers at present?
How do consumers obtain information about the environmental characteristics of food packaging, how are individual packaging materials perceived in the light of environmental aspects, and how do claims and seals influence consumer behaviour with respect to food products?
What role is currently played by increasing environmental friendliness in the use of packaging within food industry companies and how is it being tacked in organisational terms?
The results of the DLG study will be presented at the trade fair and are available online.
The issue of sustainability has developed into a constant megatrend on the food market. The current DLG study on the trend theme of sustainable packaging provides answers to all relevant questions.
