Die DLG tests Ready Dishes/Frozen Foods

In the DLG Quality Test for Ready Dishes and Frozen Foods each product is tested in accordance with scientific quality standards and an expert opinion certified in compliance with DIN and ISO is produced.

The range of products tested comprises:

  • Meat ready dishes cooked/ with and without sauce or garnishing
  • Doner and rotary spits
  • Ready dishes on a cheese and egg basis
  • Ready dishes on a potato, vegetable and fruit basis
  • Vegetarian ready dishes
  • Soups, sauces and garnishing
  • Sweets, flour-based desserts (yeast dumplings, pancakes)
  • Pizza, pasta & snacks

All products in refrigerated, sterilized or frozen state
Test criteria:

  • Product-specific sensory analysis
    including condition in non-prepared state, appearance in ready-to-eat state, consistency, odour, taste
  • Testing of the preparation
    kitchen-specific preparation in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
  • Packaging, labelling data on nutritional value, completeness of labelling elements, ease of opening
  • Stability testing of long-life preserves
  • Laboratory analyses (including microbiological spot tests of best-by date, raw material analyses)

Ready dishes that pass the DLG tests receive the “DLG award winner” medal in Gold, Silver or Bronze.
