The DLG tests delicatessen products

Delicatessen products (delicatessen salads, dressings, sauces, mayonnaises, pickled vegetables) promise an “exquisite eating experience”. Producers apply particular care in selection of the raw materials, the production process and marketing.


The DLG tests these products for  

  • Enjoyment value (technologically sound production/sensory analysis)
  • Practical value/handling (preparation of the product, inspection of packaging)
  • Truth of labelling (laboratory analyses, checking of the label particulars)

Depending on the number of scores achieved, the delicatessen products are awarded DLG Medals in Bronze, Silver or Gold.
