Italy with 33 percent of photocoltaic investments
The latest report (January 2012) published by EPIA (European Photovoltaic Association) revealed that in 2011 Italy was the first country at global level in the increase of PV plants, going from 3.5 GW of produced energy in 2010 to a current production of 12.5 GW. · Bioenergy Italy will present soon (Cremona Fairgrounds, March 15 to 17, 2012) all business solutions for companies, local administrations and private citizens wishing to enter the sector.
Today in Europe PV systems have a total energy production of 50 GW and Italy has recently made a giant leap forward in the ranking of the most “virtuous” countries in the field.
According to the latest official report published by EPIA, 2011 was a record year for the Italian PV sector: 9 GW of new installed plants led to a total Italian production of 12.5 GW of photovoltaic solar energy.
This means that in Italy the energy produced by using PV technology has increased by 257%. This result puts our country at the first place at global level for investments in the PV energy sector in the last year, before Germany (7.5 GW from new PV plants), China (2 GW), USA (1.6 GW) and France (1.5 GW). The other countries follow at a very great distance demonstrating how Italy strongly believes in this energy source.
As a matter of fact, Italy represented 33% of global investments in the PV sector and now represents 25% of European total energy production in the PV sector. This result comes from an increasingly strong awareness of farm enterprises, local administrations and the food industry (PV energy major investors) of the great potential of this energy source, which, in addition to environmental purposes, represents an important business opportunity.
Anyway, information on PV systems are not yet so deeply rooted and there are still many unknown aspects . The opportunity to know more about this sector in terms of technological solutions and fiscal and legal aspects will be soon represented by Bioenergy Italy, taking place in Cremona from March 15 to 17, 2012, the reference Italian exhibition in the renewable energy sector where PV energy will be certainly one of the main topics (last year there were 142 exhibitors from 7 countries) along with its rich programme of conferences and seminars (www.bioenergyitaly.com).
