Trial field almost booked out - More than 150 companies already registered - From 19 to 21 June 2012 in Bernburg-Strenzfeld (Saxony-Anhalt)

(DLG). DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) has noted very strong interest in its Field Days to be held in the coming year. The roughly 18-hectare trial field is almost booked out. All the leading producers of farm inputs in the areas of plant breeding, plant nutrition and plant protection will be presenting their innovations at the DLG International Crop Production Center in Bernburg-Strenzfeld (Saxony-Anhalt) from 19 to 21 June 2012. This event provides visitors with a unique spectrum of information concerning new and proven varieties as well as the latest production methods. With stand registrations already received from over 150 companies, the DLG Field Days underscore their position as indispensable top event for modern crop cultivation for plant producers from all over Germany and neighbouring countries. In 2012 the Field Days are being organized jointly by DLG with the Ministry for Agriculture and the Environment of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt and the key agricultural cooperative AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG with support from the insurance company Vereinigte Hagelversicherung VVaG, the association promoting the use of oil and protein plants (UFOP) and the Federal Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR). DLG is expecting over 20,000 visitors at the three-day event.

Innovations forum for plant cultivation
The DLG Field Days are the “innovations forum for modern plant cultivation”. The varied range of innovations comes from a wide spectrum of suppliers. The main point of attraction will be the trial field, where exhibitors show a number of different varieties of all the commonly cultivated crops. In addition further individual plant production modules will be shown on the field, for example targeted fertilizing and environmentally sound disease and pest control, as well as different cultivation techniques. An extensive selection of supplies and services in tent halls and on further stands provides a complete programme of information covering “all aspects of modern plant cultivation”.

European cropping comparisons for oilseed rape and wheat
At the DLG Field Days 2012 there will once again be European cropping comparisons for oilseed rape and wheat. Experts from many European countries will be participating in these demonstration trials. Farmers and organization from five countries will take part in the oilseed rape comparisons. Expert producers from eight nations will be participating in the comparisons of winter wheat cultivation methods. In addition, theme centres looking at “sustainable plant protection”, “energy from the field” and “green genetic engineering” will be set up with further partners from academia, industry and the consultancy sector.

Machinery demonstrations and discussion forums
A further magnetic attraction for visitors on all three days of the event will be the machinery demonstrations. The DLG Field Days 2012 will be focusing on drilling oilseed rape, precision fertilizing with mineral fertilizer spreaders, precision plant protection with field sprayers, and automatic steering and headland management of tractors. In addition, daily discussion forums on subjects of topical interest to arable farmers and field forage producers will round off the particularly interesting subject matter covered by the extensive programme of the DLG Field Days 2012.
