About the DLG Quality Competition

"For German consumers good quality eating and drinking is one of the most important contributions to their quality of life." (Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Volker Pudel, 2003). High quality food & beverages are the basis for permanent enjoyable eating. Advancing quality of food & beverage products has been one of the missions of DLG Quality Competitions since 1887.

You export food & beverages to Germany?

German consumers, food services and retailers demand:

  • high quality food products (confidence)
  • fault-free food production (perfect technology and high quality raw materials)
  • comprehensible product information (true labelling)

DLG tests some 2,500 products from approx. 250 food processors of frozen food and ready dishes every year. Branch-specific, qualified experts from the meat, frozen food and delicatessen industry as well as from small and medium-sized companies, science or food inspection services judge the quality of raw materials and ingredients, their overall composition, and fault-free, sound processing of the registered products.

Cross-company, impartial and competent -
the International DLG-Quality Competitions for Convenience Food 2007 comprises:

Testing and appraisal of products: expert statements as benchmarks and to optimise quality

  • branch-specific, qualified panel of testers / product experts,
  • clearly defined scientific test criteria,
  • relating to quality of products and their use:
    sensory analysis, chemical and microbiological laboratory analyses (random samples), testing of packaging, labeling and preparation

Product awards "DLG Award" and communication services:

  • DLG Award in Bronze, Silver or Gold, depending on the number of points achieved,
  • award allowing promotional activities for two years
  • additional argument for listings / sales
