Founded in 1885 by the respected engineer and writer Max Eyth, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) has faced up to the challenge of developing technology on an on-going basis from its very inception. The DLG-Test Center Technology and Farm Inputs in Gross-Umstadt is one of the most important in Europe. Every year some 700 tests of varying scope are carried out on tools and machinery as diverse as garden shears and combine harvesters.
