European poultry producers discuss animal welfare and international trade – Conference on 14th November – Panel discussion guarantees a lively debate of interest to all those in the poultry sector
FRANKFURT/MAIN, Germany, September 21, 2016 – The European Poultry Club (EPC), the German Poultry Association (ZDG) and the DLG (German Agricultural Society) this year will once again host the International Poultry Day the day before EuroTier starts. Poultry sector representatives from around the world will gather at Hanover’s Exhibition Grounds on 14 November for this special pre-show event.
As one of world's fastest growing livestock sectors, the poultry industry faces many challenges, and the International Poultry Day allows stakeholders to discuss some of them in detail. The day kicks off at 16:00 in the Convention Centre at the heart of the EuroTier site with the International Poultry Conference, which will be simultaneously translated in both German and English.
The topic this year is “Animal welfare in international trade –fundamental ethical value or trade restriction?” and the keynote speaker is Professor Harald von Witzke, who will discuss the pros and cons of high animal welfare standards in Europe for international trade. The professor’s paper will be followed by a panel discussion on the subject, and the conference will end at about 17:30.
The popular “International Poultry Event”, which is by invitation only, will then start at 19:30. This year, it will feature Cargill’s Group President for Global Poultry, Christopher Langholz, as guest speaker, and his topic for the evening is “Asian rising”.
