DLG e.V. - DLG-Agrifuture Insights Report Germany - Business

Country Report Germany – Business climate and Willingness to invest Mood improves among farmers in Germany, steady Willingness to Invest

Business conditions in summer and autumn 2017 are embossed by the global high grain and oilseeds harvest. In this climate major upward price movements were not to be expected. In consequence, economic conditions for arable farmers are mixed and they tend to be more aware of production costs again.

Pig farmers are in stable economic conditions and benefit from high grain supply by low feed prices. Also hog prices are widely stable and compared with previous years on above average level. Also the economic conditions for dairy farmer improved due to higher milk prices in the ongoing year. After this two year period of difficult economic conditions, dairy farmers return to farm development and expand farm investments.

In DLG-Agrifuture Insights, farmers assess actual economic situation, business expectations and identify investment strategies for farm development.
